Change Recruitment are currently recruiting a Fleet Manager for a growing company with offices based in Weston-super-Mare. Working on behalf of the local council, they are responsible for a variety of services.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a business operating a large mix of commercial vehicles, HGV and plant and be a CPC holder.

Duties include:

  • Lead and manage the team and activities of the Commercial Vehicle Workshop facility ensuring the fleet is fully maintained according to statutory regulations and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Ensure all transport operations are carried out in a compliant manner, this includes the Goods vehicle Operators Licence requirements and the update of internal databases as appropriate as well as driver’s hours legislation.
  • Be the primary Transport Manager/CPC holder on the company’s Operator’s licence.
  • Provide technical support to the company, ranging from vehicle specifications, managing the vehicle, plant and equipment profile, identifying alternative vehicle options and asset utilisation and efficiency information.
  • Specifying and procurement of new / replacement fleet, and appropriate disposal. 
  • Negotiate service contracts to maximise the benefit of service versus cost.   
  • Utilise stock solutions where available to reduce parts holding. 
  • Manage recruitment in line with agreed establishment targets.
  • Ensure that all reports required as part of the role are delivered in time for meetings and any follow up actions are completed in a timely manner.
  • To take budgetary responsibility for Fleet Costs, providing variance updates to the Board of Directors. Work with the senior leadership team to ensure that all financial/ budgeted targets are achieved.
  • Work with the Operations Managers to ensure sufficient vehicle, plant and equipment allocation for the Services.
  • Provide a hire desk service to Operational Services for replacement and additional vehicles, plant and equipment.
  • Ensure the correct maintenance and testing regimes are always in place and adhered to.
  • Work to develop appropriate KPI’s and ensure delivery to satisfactory levels as required by the Operations Director.
  • Deputise for the Operations Director or the role’s line reports in their absence.
