We are excited to be recruiting an experienced Health and Safety Manager on behalf of our highly successful manufacturing client based in Highbridge, Somerset. The company manufacture a highly innovative product for customers across a range of industries and have won a number of industry awards in over 15 years of successful trading.

The position will involve taking ownership of a number of key responsibilities for Health & Safety across this multi-sited business. For example you will ensure the continuous promotion of H&S practices and culture across the workplace.

Main duties will include:

  • Elect and set up H&S representative meetings.
  • Overall responsibility and compliance of the Company’s health and safety, making sure staff are aware of the importance and follow safety protocol.
  • Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace.
  • Conduct all “risk assessments” as required by legislation and are reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same.
  • Carry out internal and compliance audits as well as external ISO audits.
  • Naturally any accident investigation and R.I.D.D.O.R required reporting will fall under this role
  • Regularly carry our H&S inspections and as part of the management team notify the directors of any H&S issues requiring action and legislation changes and updates.
  • To identify areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance. Arrange such training/certification once identified.


As a specialist in your field you will be qualified in occupational health and safety, holding a qualification such as a masters, NVQ, BSC or NEBOSH national diploma

Key competencies to be effective in this role include influencing and confident communication ,organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team.

You will of course be IT literate and a comprehensive understanding of Windows based programmes to include Word, Excel and Outlook is essential

As a multi-site operation a driving license will be required for this position.
