Change Recruitment have the pleasure of working with a respected local government organisation with offices in Shepton Mallet. We are currently supporting with the appointment of a HR Officer on a contract basis until 30th March 2023 to assist with workload during a project to ensure service and corporate objectives are met. This is a Part-Time role working 22 – 30 hours a week (ideally covering Wednesday and Friday).
This role will be based remotely, with the requirement to visit the office once a month/every 6 weeks. As such you will need to have a suitable work space and be comfortable working from home.
Main duties include:
HR Advisory & Case Work
- Providing advice and support to managers and employees on a range of employment issues including conditions of service and employee benefits, discipline, grievance, performance management and absence management.
- Providing advice and support to managers and employees on absence.
- Championing wellbeing initiatives and recommending and initiating interventions such as referrals to occupational health, counselling and our employee assistance programme.
Policies
- Ensure that the requirements of the organisations HR policies and procedures, conditions of service and employment law are met.
- Review, revise and develop personnel policies and procedures.
Other
- Lead on key aspects of projects or services that have a significant impact on working practices across the organisation.
- Play an active role in the development and delivery of the service plan.
- Undertake corporate projects as appropriate (such as supporting Unitary preparations)
- Such other duties as may, from time to time, be assigned to the post holder by the Manager.

As such you will ideally be a member of the CIPD and have experience handling complex ER issues. You are also joining during a period of growth, so experience in recruitment would be beneficial.
In return this role is offering £15ph - £15.50ph, flexibility on working hours and remote working.
