Change Recruitment are currently recruiting an Operations Manager for a growing Highways Maintenance company with offices based in Weston-super-Mare. Working on behalf of the local council, they are responsible for all preventative and reactive maintenance of existing road networks in the area.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within Highways operations and hold a SMSTA qualification.
Duties include:
- Manage the efficient and effective Reactive Maintenance service delivery including pot-hole repair and patching, kerbing and channel replacement, replacing/bedding ironwork, gully cover and manhole replacement, and sign replacement work.
- Manage services to ensure that efficiency levels are continuously improved upon, bringing value-added financial performance to the Company.
- Ensure that supervisory and operational teams deliver on all the specified requirements of the services.
- Work with the Contract Manager to develop and implement innovative new commercial opportunities which continuously improve on the financial performance of the Company.
- Positively encourage a safe working culture.
- Ensure that all incidents are investigated in a timely manner and oversee all insurance and reporting requirements.
- Manage recruitment in line with agreed establishment targets.
- Work with suppliers to maximise the benefit of service delivery versus cost.
- Attendance at Client/customer meetings as required. Ensure that all reports required as part of the Contracts are delivered in time for meetings and any follow up actions are completed in a timely manner.
- Support the Contract Manager to ensure that all financial/ budgeted targets are achieved.
- Work with the Fleet Department to ensure sufficient mobile plant and vehicle allocation for the Services.
- Management of a sufficiently resourced and skilled on-call team including operational response 24/7 365 to incidents.
- Work effectively with supply chain relationships for the delivery of sub-contracted elements of the services.
- Deputise for the Contract Manager or the role’s line reports in their absence.
